The Face of Evil
Evil uses destructiveness to inflict pain and suffering on other people. It expresses the qualities and feelings of hate, greed, narcissism, envy, extreme selfishness, revenge, and malice—the deliberate intent to hurt others. It is never satisfied. Evil expresses these qualities with behavior that destroys the good and replaces it with unnecessary pain and suffering. This kind of pain and suffering that would not exist if evil did not bring it into existence. Evil destroys humanity.
Our humanity determines the quality of our life. A good life reflects humane qualities like caring, empathy, consideration, compassion, generosity, and love. The expression of these qualities brings satisfaction, happiness, and joy.
It is important to recognize and oppose evil for the sake of our individual and group humanity. In addition to the quality of our individual life, our humanity determines the quality of our group life. The greater the humanity we carry with us and express, the greater our satisfaction, happiness, and joy in life.
